Hidden underneath, the desk cleverly reveals a custom cable tray made from a single sheet of patinated steel bent to perfection, a nod to Rigby’s craft for metalwork. The oxidised patina elevates another aspect of the piece with both character and functional utility. Paired with a leather GUBI Masculo chair and lighting by Wästberg, the space has been converted into a cosy modern study that I’ve always wanted.
Commissioning Rigby has in many ways exceeded my expectations — from the raw materiality to his meticulous approach to detail, Rigby brings to the table a calming blend of organic form and playful eccentricity; delivering refinement and tactility that is built to endure. As I look to the unknown passersby below, elbow to desk, pen in hand, the alcove has become an inspiring place for quiet contemplation, creative passions, and the occasional intellectual work.
